FilNet is an organization ...

of Filipino-Canadians in British Columbia whose career or interests are in the Information Technology (IT). Our objectives are to:

  1. establish a network of Filipino IT
professionals and others whose interests are in information systems
  2. act as a centralized resource where
members can learn from each other by
    sharing knowledge, experience and skills
  3. provide IT related career guidance to those who need it most and to promote IT as a viable career alternative to Filipino-Canadians
  4. recognize outstanding Filipino
    achievements and contributions in IT
  5. help preserve and promote the Filipino
culture in this multi-cultural society of
    Canada

Our humble beginnings

FilNet was formed in late 1994 when a group of Filipino-Canadians in Information Technology (IT) in British Columbia met in Surrey. The group was organized by Manny Masongsong, formerly of Prologic Corporation, and Vic Ingco of BC Hydro.

FilNet is now an established organization, incorporated as a non-profit Society on January 25, 2000. It's first General Meeting as a Society was held on March 11, 2000 at the offices of PeopleSoft where FilNet's first Board of Directors was elected. The members of the Board were inducted to office on April 15, 2000 in Vancouver. FilNet now meets monthly to discuss technical subjects and other topics that are of interest to the members. It also holds social, sports and recreational functions on an on-going basis.
